What tires do you need for Las Vegas weather?

What tires do you need for Las Vegas weather?
What tires do you need for Las Vegas weather?
Las Vegas has a hot desert subtropical climate. It is hot and dry here throughout the year, with an average daily temperature of 68 °F. The average high in Sin City is 80 °F, and the average low is 56 °F. The coldest month is January (37-57 °F) when the frosts can cover the surrounding hills but aren’t common in the valley where Las Vegas lies. In the hottest month of the year, July, temperatures rise up to 104 °F.
Las Vegas is about 100 miles away from Death Valley — one of the hottest and driest places in America! And the annual precipitation here is only 4,2 inches! It mostly rains here in February, but (0.8 inches of precipitation), and the rainless season lasts from the middle of March to the middle of December. The last time when Las Vegas has seen snow was in December of 2008.
Saying all that, we see that Las Vegas needs tires that perform best on the heated dry road’s surface. Summer, performance, or high-performance tires’ stiff rubber compound suits these weather conditions the most. They are perfect for dry conditions, providing increased handling response and traction.
All-season tires that all Americans prefer to drive on, have a softer rubber compound that is meant to “melt” for a better grip on the frozen road’s surface. No, it won’t completely melt and explode on Las Vegas’s highways, but why would you need rubber that is designated for driving in winter if there is no winter here? But the choice is totally yours! If you need any assistance with the tire choice for your Las Vegas ride, talk to United Tires’ 24/7 customer support team. Just call toll-free at 1-888-566-6214 make the right decision and get a free FedEx Ground shipping right to your Las Vegas doorstep!

DRIVERS’ LAS VEGAS GUIDE: PRACTICAL INFORMATION

Drivers’ Las Vegas guide: practical information
Drivers’ Las Vegas guide: practical information
Is Las Vegas your home, or are you just planning a visit? Even if you haven’t planned it but found yourself here (and married?), this section is all you need! The most important driving laws, car window tint regulations, seasonal tire changeover, routes for escape, and much, much more

Live traffic report

In 2020 Las Vegas was ranked the 26th American city for worst traffic, as reported by 8newsnow.com with a link to a recent survey by the GPS manufacturing company. And the intersection of Las Vegas Boulevard and Tropicana Avenue is considered the busiest in the world! Especially busy the streets of Las Vegas are in the rush hours, from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. So if you absolutely cannot be late for whatever mischievous activities are on your mind, plan your commuting wisely. And here are a few trustworthy online resources with online traffic reports.

Seasonal tire changeover

The desert subtropical climate of Las Vegas is known for its extremely hot temperatures and very little precipitation. Therefore, for the sake of safe driving, you don’t really need a seasonal tire changeover, but you should definitely choose your tires wisely. We recommend getting a set of summer tires or performance tires that perfectly suit Las Vegas weather conditions. Right now, the United Tires inventory has about 5,000 new and used summer tires and over 10,000 performance tires in perfect condition. Choose them by tire size, model, rim, brand, condition, and get a free delivery right to your Las Vegas doorstep!

Driving Laws

Rules of the road of the state are determined by Nevada Legislature. The Basic Rule demands driving at reasonable and proper speeds. Here are some other important traffic rules to remember when driving on Las Vegas roads:
  1. When passing a bicycle, a motorist should try to move to the adjacent left line; and yield to the bicyclists at the intersections
  2. Texting, accessing the internet, and hand-held phone use is illegal in the state of Nevada, according to NRS 484B. 165
  3. The maximum legal limit is 0.8 percent of blood alcohol level (or any detectable amount of a controlled substance)
  4. Failure to submit a breath, urine, or blood test as directed by a police officer is resulted in a driver’s license revocation for at least 1 year
  5. Children of 7 years old or younger are never to be left unsupervised in a vehicle
  6. It is illegal to leave a cat or a dog unattended in a vehicle during periods of extreme heat or cold
  7. The drivers are allowed to turn right at a red light after coming to a full stop, being in the extreme right lane, yielding to the pedestrians and traffic moving through the intersection
  8. Drivers under 18 years old cannot transport passengers under 18 years of age except for the immediate members of the family

Window tint laws

Nevada window tinting law regulates the basic car window tint requirements in the state. The most important rules to remember are the tint darkness, the reflective film usage allowance, and the restricted window tint colors.

Sedans: tint darkness

  • Windshield: only non-reflective tint can be applied above the AS-1 line of the manufacturer
  • Front side windows: VLT 35%
  • Backside windows: tints of any darkness
  • Rear window: tints of any darkness

Vans and SUVs: tint darkness

  • Windshield: only non-reflective tint can be applied above the AS-1 line of the manufacturer
  • Front side windows: VLT 35%
  • Backside windows: tints of any darkness
  • Rear window: tints of any darkness

Window tint reflection

The state of Nevada does allow the usage of films that reflect the incoming light, reducing heat and glare. As there are no detailed specifics, provided in the law, we recommend using films by certified manufacturers and getting the windows tinted only in the reliable licensed shops.

Restricted tint colors

Nevada doesn’t allow its residents to tint their car windows with amber and red films.
Find out the latest tinting trends, get valuable pro tips, and make your Las Vegas ride absolutely outstanding!

Roads and highways

Las Vegas is perfectly connected with the rest of the country by the network of interstate highways, U.S. routes, and it is super convenient to get from point A to point B via state routes. Let’s see what are the most important of them.

Interstate highways

  • Boulder City Bypass/Interstate 11 is 12.5 miles long and connects the Railroad Pass south and the Hoover Dam Bypass (U.S. 93) in the Eldorado mountains
  • Las Vegas Freeway/Interstate 15 hosts over 300,000 vehicles daily! It is one of the busiest roads in the Las Vegas valley, connecting Las Vegas with Los Angeles in the south and Salt Lake City and the Intermountain West in the north
  • Las Vegas (Bruce Woodbury) Beltway begins at I-515 in Henderson and meets I-15, the southwest of McCarran International Airport. Then, on the west from I-15, and coming through Enterprise, Interstate 215 enters the Clark County 215 (CC-215). It turns back to the east near U.S.95
  • Oran K. Gragson Freeway/Interstate 515 is overlaying the U.S. 93 and U.S. 95, going along the Las Vegas Expressway to the southeast of I-15 (Downtown Las Vegas - Henderson)

U.S. routes

  • Historic U.S. Route 91/Arrowhead Highway was originally designated for the route of the current Interstate 15 corridor but was replaced by I-15, the most congested road in Las Vegas.
  • Historic U.S. Route 93/Great Basin Highway/Hoover Dam Bypass is an important route that enters Las Vegas by the Mike O’Callaghan – Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge. It serves Boulder City and conjuncts U.S. 95 near the Railroad Pass. The U.S. 93 and 95 routes join the Interstate 515 along, and the Oran K. Gragson Freeway and the Spaghetti Bowl interchange with I-15.
  • Historic U.S. Route 95/Bonanza Highway/Oran K. Gragson Freeway enters Nevada from the northwest of Needles, California, and joins Nevada 163 (north of Boulder City), I-11, U.S. 93, Interstate 515 (Henderson), and the U.S. 95, following Downtown Las Vegas. Going west and north, it follows Oran K. Gragson Freeway to Summerlin and Kyle Canyon Road and then heads west of Nevada, serving Amargosa Valley, Beatty, Goldfield, Tonopah, and Fallon.
  • Historic U.S. Route 466 was originally designated for the route that is now served by the U.S. 93 between Kingman (Arizona) and Las Vegas, via Hoover Dam and Boulder City.

Important roads

  • Nevada 160/Blue Diamond Road
  • Nevada 171/Airport Connector
  • Nevada 562/Sunset Road
  • Nevada 564/Lake Mead Parkway
  • Nevada 573/CraigRoad
  • Nevada 578/Washington Avenue
  • Nevada 579/Bonanza Road
  • Nevada 582/Boulder Highway
  • Nevada 592/Flamingo Road
  • Nevada 593/Tropicana Avenue
  • Nevada 595/Rainbow Boulevard
  • Nevada 601/Former Main Street
  • Nevada 602/Casino Center Boulevard

Las Vegas monorail

The Las Vegas Monorail is a good alternative to commuting between important parts of the city — SAHARA Las Vegas, Westgate, Las Vegas Convention Center, Harrah’s & The Linq, Flamingo & Caesars Palace, Bally’s & Paris, MGM Grand. It’s only 3.9 miles long and has only those 7 stations, but getting between these locations in the heart of Sin City was never easier. One-day unlimited pass is only $13.
